Adventure Thailand ’09 – Phra Nang Beach

Submitted by on August 21, 2009 – 10:30 am3 Comments

Oh my, it’s been a week since I published my last blog entry.  It is difficult sometimes to write a story when you are tired, stressed and restless.  But I had to do it; I have to finish the Thailand Adventure stories because in a month’s time I will be in Thailand again.

Anyway here’s my travel story in Phra Nang Beach, Krabi, Thailand.  Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think.

April 30, 2009Phra Nang beach is the last stop of our trip that day before we headed to our villa at the Sunrise Tropical Resort where we stayed on the east side of Railay Beach.  This beach in Krabi belongs to Railay peninsula, an area that can be reached only by boats, and that has three beaches. Amongst them I find this one to be the most beautiful. The sand is perfectly powdery, and the beach is surrounded by huge rocks, a beach-lovers and climbers paradise.

Phra Nang beach is only accessible by boat due to the high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access.  You can’t just walk from Railay beach to Phra Nang beach, unless you are a rock climber.

The story behind Phra Nang beach

There is the famous “Princess Cave” or Tham Phra Nang. It is believed by local fishermen to be the home of a mythical sea princess.  Recently, an inner Princess Cave or Tham Phra Nang Nai was discovered. It became famous and it is now known as “The Fertility Cave” which I will be talking about on my next blog entry.

(Caption: Now, my guess why there is a Fertility Cave, it is shaped like a D**k!!! oops sorry)

How to go to Phra nang beach?

There’s a Long-tail boat booth in Ao nang port.  Get a ticket that will take you to Railay beach and the trip takes about 15 minutes.

How much to pay to go to Phra Nang beach?

About 50-60 baht.

What to eat at Phra Nang beach?

We only stayed there for almost an hour but I’ve noticed some food vendors which sells roasted corn in the cob and other Thai barbeques.

What to do in Phra Nang beach?

When we were there, the staff of The Groto were preparing for a beach wedding as seen on the photos below.

(Caption:  I don’t know what they offer here but the reason why I took this shot is to shoot the lady sitting while topless, can you see some mountains? hahaha)

Unfortunately, my friend and I never swam in that beach but definitely we will be back!  And that is a promise.
