Online Photography Course – Yes or No?

Submitted by on November 4, 2007 – 6:27 am7 Comments

A while ago I’ve seen an advertisement from Darren Rose Photography School site; the ad is about a website that teaches photography online.  When enrolled, you’ll be having your dedicated tutor through out your online course; and here’s the catch, which other online schooling does not offer.  There’s no time limit; you study at your own phase and time. Now the question is, is it worth it to spend USD $84.60 (used to be USD $114.20)?  Will I have a time to finish it?  With the blog sites that I take care of and of course my job that requires 12 hours a day from my time.  What am I thinking?

I guess I should do it since I already bought an expensive camera and not to mention the lens and accessories that goes along with this expensive hobby. If you’re also interested, you can visit their Online Photography site.

Here’s an outline of their course syllabus:

1. Introduction to Photography
2. Digital Photography
3. Exposure: Shutter Speed
4. Exposure: Aperture
5. Composition
6. Light
7. Shooting Black and White
8. Travel Photography I.
9. Travel Photography II.
10. Portraits
11. People and Their Environment
12. Insiders’ Tricks and Techniques
13. Common Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them

Aside from the 13 important segments that you’ll get from the course, you will also get a Certificate of Recognition certificate.jpg that will be mailed to you and a lifetime membership and access to 500 MB FREE Photo Gallery on their site.

If you run a blog site you apply to their affiliate program and here’s an image that will show you what you can earn from their program:

Note:  If you happened to be interested on enrolling on this photography course, I would really appreciate it if you click on the affiliate program banner that I have on this blog.

If I enroll on this course, I will post an update on this blog just to show what progress I made with my Photography hobby.

chiao for now! :)

hehehe Good luck :) but you know what? I prefer a traditional classroom rather than that. It’s okay if it’s a creative writing class but photography is different, kailangan mong ma expose sa labas together with other aspiring photographers diba?
    yun lang. :)

teka member ka rin ba ng ng Digital Photography School? :)

  • mrloo says:

hi manilenya (i won’t reveal your real name hehehe) thnx for dropping by.

How I wish that I can enroll on traditional classroom, and there’s a lot of subject out there to shoot but the problem is I’m out of the Philippines and the real world hehehe.

I just signed the other day sa Digital Photography School, you din ba? :)

I hope this is not the last time that you’ll drop by.

    thnx M.

You’re right, better get a real cam first before you enroll on a real photography course. I got my SLR on JR.com. But, before you order online let me know I’ll give you a link. A link of an affiliate. hehehe :)
