Philippines Passport Update: How to Renew & Apply

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, the green colored Philippines Passport will no longer be accepted even the expiration date is still valid.
To renew or apply for the new Machine Readable Passport, see the below requirements:
FOR RENEWAL MINOR AND ADULT
REQUIREMENTS:1. OLD PASSPORT
2. 3 PASSPORT SIZED PICTURES W/ROYAL BLUE BACKGROUND WEARING DARK COLORED POLO/BLOUSE
3. PROPERLY ACCOMPLISHED APPLICATION FORM
4. IF 18YRS OLD & BELOW, SUBMIT PHOTOCOPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND ORIG. PASSPORT OF MOTHER (TO BE SIGNED AND THUMBMARKED BY MOTHER ON THE APPLICATION FORM AND UNDERTAKING)
3. PROPERLY ACCOMPLISHED APPLICATION FORM
4. IF 18YRS OLD & BELOW, SUBMIT PHOTOCOPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND ORIG. PASSPORT OF MOTHER (TO BE SIGNED AND THUMBMARKED BY MOTHER ON THE APPLICATION FORM AND UNDERTAKING)

thanks for sharing this. I have to renew my old passport now.
how can this be? the official website of DFA and various embassies say the green passport, like mine, will still be valid even with the rollout of the MRP. i’d love to upgrade but not soon. i have an upcoming trip out of asia in a few months
Tutubi if I were you visit the DFA and ask about the issue. Mine is a green one too and it’s expiring next year so I sent my brother to the DFA to inquire about the renewal and that’s what they told him.
So this month when I go back to Philippines, I will renew mine.
To avoid this problem, you’d rather replace your green one with the latest MRP.
I renewed mine last month and it only took 7 days but I paid P750.00, a P250.00 higher than the regular payment that will take 2 weeks to finish.
I had mine delivered and I paid P99.00.
magrerenew ako ng passport dahil magxpired na baka magtaka ang dfa kc apelyido ng nanay ko naka appear sa tunay k birthcertificate kc d sila kasal kumuha ako ng bago bcertificate na authenticated. marerenew k ba yun wala kya questionin sakin. tnx my affidavit ko
Hi Socorro, I am not confident enough to give you any advice regarding your query since I haven’t encoutered that yet.
What i suggest to you is to go to Department of Foreign Affairs in Philippines or at the nearest Philippines Embassy where you are residing at the moment (if you are outside Phil).
If you ever got an answer from the DFA or the Philippines Embassy, I hope that you can post it here.

green passport are still valid, yon pa rin kasi ang gamit ko and just came from vacation last Jan.
socorro try to see DFA, siguro naman pwede yan kong completo ka lang sa mga supporting docs.

@mrloo, I’m travelling to the Philippines for emergency purposes and my passport has been expired since ‘07. I was advised by one of the Philippine consulate staff from Washington, DC to apply for travel document but it is only single entry so that means when I come back to the US, my passport should have been renewed already. My question is, do I have to make an appointment for that(over DFA in Manila?) ‘coz that what I’m planning to do as soon as I set foot on Philippine soil. Thank you and hope to get a reply from you.

@marloo…query lng..naiwala ng PRO ung passport q.im here in dubai n i have to go back philippines dahil magchange visa ako, my previous visa was already expired and over stayed n ako since september 13. pwede ba akong umuwi ng pinas using travel documents lang?and sa pinas na ako mag process ng bagong passport.
further, ano po ba mga requirements if ever, may police report na po ako.

@odessa fairbanks: meron naman tayong philippine embassy dito sa dubai. im sure matutulongan ka nila sa problem mo regarding your lost passport.. basta punta ka sa philippine embassy natin and they will help you there whatever problem mo ingats always..

Bakit po na paka pangit ng sebisyo ng philippine consulate sa dubai,Huwag nyo naman dalhin yung asal natin sa pinas.Walang nasagot sa phone pagtinanong mo galit pa. Dapat palitan ng bago ang mga empliyado. salamat po sa inyo at makunsensya naman kayo palibhasa hindi nyo nararamdam yung nararamdaman namin kc nasa goverment kayo.
